The Castafiore Emerald is what I would call a home-adventure for Tintin. It is a Castafiore emerald book different than the other tintin books as the adventure take place at one place, the Marlinspike Hall. The billions blue blistering barnacles turn into trillion blue blistering barnacles for Captain Haddock, when Bianca Castafiore pays a visit to Marlinspike/5().

The Castafiore Emerald was Herge's third-to-last completed Tintin story, and the most unconventional. Rather than a globe-trotting adventure, it takes place completely at Marlinspike Hall, where an incapacitated Captain Haddock is being nursed back to health by an unwelcome visitor in the form of Bianca Castafiore, the "Milanese Nightingale" who then suffers a devastating loss ("Mercy, my /5(82).

The main characters of this sequential art, comics story are Tintin, Captain Archibald Haddock/5. Castafiore emerald book 'The Castafiore Emerald' is actaully an hilarious character study of our heroes at home, rather than in dire peril.

This is Tintin as sitcom & it works very well. I must admit that this story would be a poor first exposure to Tintin, but if you read the previous books (best of all in order) you'll probably come love it/5(96). The plot in The Castafiore Emerald is nonexistent, resulting in a book that is full of nothing but slapstick gags and red herrings.

The lack of any real story is compounded by the fact that the focal character of the book is my least favorite supporting character in the series: The obnoxiously self-absorbed Bianca Castafiore.

The classic graphic novel. When Tintin and Captain Haddock happen across a community of gypsies they invite them home just as Bianca Castafiore, the famous opera singer, decides to visit Tintin.

It's chaos at Marlinspike Hall, and then a precious emerald goes missing!Brand: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. The Castafiore Emerald. While Tintin and Captain Haddock enjoy the quiet of Marlinspike Hall, Bianca Castafiore comes in with great fanfare.

The arrival of the opera singer, who constantly fears for the safety of her jewels, creates great turmoil and turns the castle upside down/5(6). The Castafiore Emerald is the story about Bianca Castafiore's prized Emerald going missing while she pays a surprise visit to Marlinspike Hall. Tintin and Captain Haddock are walking through the countryside of Marlinshire when they come across a Romani community camped in a garbage dump, and reunite a lost little girl named Miarka with her family there.

The Romani explain that they are not Author(s): Hergé. The Castafiore Emerald is unique in the Tintin series for taking place entirely at Marlinspike Hall. Most of this series takes place around the world, in various exotic locations- that's one of the draws of the series- but here we get intrigue a little closer to home for Tintin and Haddock.

Review: The Castafiore Emerald (Tintin #21) User Review - Matthew Brady - Goodreads. Kind of an outlier in the Tintin series, taking place in a single location and focusing on comedy and farce rather than mystery or adventure/5(2). The Castafiore Emerald is a two-part episode in The Adventures of Tintin, produced by Ellipse-Nelvana, based on the book of the same name by Hergé.

Changes from the Book. Unlike the book, when Castafiore arrives, she still gifts Captain Haddock with the parrot Iago, but the parrot's part is significantly such, the bird does not manage to pick up much of Haddock’s verbal slang Director(s): Stéphane Bernasconi.
